About Downtown Hood River

 

Downtown Hood River is a desirable place to live. Living in the downtown area you have the ability to walk to many restaurants and shops. Also many of the homes have views of The Columbia River and Mt. Adams.

In Hood River’s downtown you can find many things to do. There are 2 movie theatres, visit a tasting room and taste test wine from multiple wineries around The Columbia River Gorge,  drink some delicious beer from Full Sail or Double Mountain Brewery,  enjoy an ice cream from Mike’s on the library lawn, take the kids to the library, and not mention have a bite to eat at the many restaurants – in the summer you can enjoy outdoor seating many of them provide.

Because of the outdoor sports available to Hood River the summer time is a busy time for the downtown. If you want to stay downtown there is the historic Hood River hotel or many of the homes in the area offer short term rentals.

A popular local downtown event is First Friday. On the First Friday of every month from May-October you will find downtown filled with people. Shops are open late, various entertainment, and activities. July – September they even close the main street in Hood River. First Friday is an event that is fun for all ages!
